Saturday 1st July 2017 we assisted the HCPT Group 180 in their charity bike ride from Widnes to Llandudno… was a great day, full of fun and laughter….and a lot of money was raised in the process. The Group were appreciative of the Bike Marshals efforts to keep them safe and fed and watered us at every opportunity. Several of the BM members donated their fuel expenses back to HCPT who finance sick children to make a pilgrimage to Lourdes and run Hosanna House for the kids in the outstanding settings of the Pyrenees a few kilometers from Lourdes. I have visited the house and was humbled to see what great works are done there……Very proud to have supported this event and look forward to a repeat in 2018

Sunday the 30th April we went to Bolton with 4 marshals and escorted approx 40 bikers to an address and piked up 12 year old Kyle Buckley. Kyle is a cancer patient who is mad on motorbikes. He was seated on a trike and the whole very noisey convoy took him to the De-Haviland Club where a fund raising event was taking place to enable him to go to Germany for life saving treatment not available in the UK …….. Brave Kyle knew nothing of our plans and the look on his face says it all.18254254_10155995345830828_1232249758_n

On the 15th April 2017 the team attended the Rivington Barn Easter Egg run and supported 70+ bikers delivering a large quantity of Easter Eggs for less fortunate children in the Westhoughton district of Bolton

On Sunday the 29th January 2017 our team will be supporting cyclist Nick Giles on his fund raising 152 mile ride through North Wales from Rossett near Chester via Bangor and back to the village of Holt……..its quite a challenging route  for Nick….it actually passes through TWO Bangors !.  Nick is raising both money and awareness for that terrible condition, Alzheimer’s so we are very proud to have been asked to assist him.

Good luck Nick

On Sunday the 20th November 2017 we became involved in the NW Air Ambulance Charity Ride when we escorted about 300 bikers from Rivington Hall to the air ambulance’s base at Manchester City Airport, Barton nr Eccles. Another fantastic event attended by Baz, Howard and Robin. We met another two recruits to the team Colin and Alan who assisted us, they enjoyed the experience so much that they want to join us ! £2080 was raised during the day for this very worthwhile cause.

During November 2013 BikeMarshals were asked to help with a fundraising charity event to showcase the work of Pancreatic Cancer Action UK to escort a ‘four-person’ bike for 12 hours round the centre of Manchester.   It was hard work, we never got out of second gear but it was great fun and it was for a very worthwhile cause.
