View From The Office

Our Moto Colin made a video of our ride from Rivington Barn recently which shows how the team work together when escorting large numbers of bikes or cars.  I am unsure what message Colin is attempting to pass to his colleagues whist stationary at the roundabout towards the end of the clip…….but I reckon he was a racecourse ‘tick tack man’ in a past life !

Our Moto Colin filmed the run from Rivington Barn recently…….a great clip showing how we work as a team when escorting a large number of bikes ……I am not sure what Colin was attempting to say to his colleagues whilst standing at the roundabout (towards the end of the clip) but I reckon he must have been ‘tic tack man’ on the racecourse !

The team braced themselves for a day of snow showers and biting cold when we supported Gingers Easter Egg Run from Leigh to Manchester Children’s Hospital ….an event which has been going annually for a staggering 31 years !!!   More than 400 scooters were safely escorted through the Lancashire towns to the hospital…….the Transit van was stuffed to the gills with Easter eggs for the poor kids forced to spend the holidays in hospital

You never fail to provide a most outstanding service and never ask for anything in return. Today went off like clockwork from the start at Rivington Barn to the destination, Chorley Hospital. You are a pleasure to ride with, you are our angels on 2 wheels and see you on the Rivi Barn Biker Easter Egg Run xxxxxxxxxx

Visit to Highways England North West Control Centre

Last Wednesday evening, 20 members of the Bikemarshals Team paid a visit to the M6 Control Centre near Haydock.  One of our guys, Gary Reece is a Highways England Patrol Officer/Trainer and kindly gave a fascinating presentation about the work of the Service keeping the motorway network running as safe as possible. He also gave us some advice about safety on the motorway and what to do in case of breakdown or accident.

We then went downstairs into the massive control room when staff were on on hand to explain about all the technology employed to operate the motorway network which is shared with the North West Motorway Police Group.

It was an enjoyable visit and we are grateful to Highways England and of course Gary for facilitating the visit

Cole Porters Last Ride

We have recently been asked to provide an escort on Cole Porters Last Ride.    Cole was a 21 year old bike man young man who was involved in a serious RTC on Christmas Day……sadly succumbing to his injuries the following day.   His family and friends had requested a ‘bikers funeral’ for him.   The motorcycling community responded in the way that they always do and more than 200 of them assembled outside his house at Partington near Manchester and having given the very noisy ‘bikers salute’ of high revving bike engines followed Cole who was in a motorcycle hearse on a very challenging circular route to the crematorium at Altrincham where he was laid to rest in his motorcycle decorated coffin.

The eight bike marshals were able to keep the cortege moving constantly throughout the 10 mile journey and are very appreciative of the assistance provided by the Stockton Heath PCSOs at a very difficult traffic light control bridge and junction near Lymm.

Rivington Bikers Toy Run

On Sunday the 10th December 2017 Some of the group attended the first Christmas Toy Run for The Rivington Bikers group.  Because of the weather, ie threats of ice and snow in the area, the route had to be curtailed and several of the BM Team were forced to miss the event.   Nevertheless, a crew of hardy riders, led by Alan Stockton suitably disguised as Santa, started the ride at Tesco near the Macron Stadium near Bolton, proceeding along the A6., through Chorley and Derian House bearing a mass of presents for the children who are resident there.  Well done Team
